How I Met Your Mother aired it's series finale 6 years ago on March 31st, 2014. Many fans hopped the ending was an early April's Fools prank. Alas, it wasn't. However, the creators did make an alternate ending on for the DVD with no actual footage but a different monologue from.the narrator and ending with Ted telling his kids "that how I met your mother" and not including any of the awful Robin stuff afterwards.
