I keep hearing people walking by my window and coughing. Yeah yeah yeah I know allergies... However, California is on lockdown. These people do not need to go on walks if they have a cough. I keep yelling out the window for them to go in their houses. #nofucksgiven We have too many cases for me to take a risk!

omg let people go for walks in peace. They are not coughing on anyone...they are doing it in wide open space. Its good for their mental health. Not to stay cooped up inside all day.

No. If you are coughing stay your ass in the house. Do not come by my house with whatever the fuck.

There are 8 (maybe more?) cases here in my city. I am not taking chances.

If it can't get through the walls of houses, then it can't get through your closed windows, either ...

My window is open tho.

People need to stay home if they are coughing. Period.

A cough is involuntary - you can't control when it happens (people with continuous coughs should stay home, yes... but nobody is saying otherwise!)

People should close their windows if they're worried about random, isolated coughs getting into their homes... You're responsible for your own actions, not anybody else's.

I can't believe that this far into it ONTD still isn't taking this seriously

You need to be outside does not mean more than people's lives. We are on a fucking lockdown. If you are coughing stay at home. You have no idea what it is. You can be sick and not know it.

Who says I'm not taking it seriously?! Government here (UK) is saying people are allowed out once per day, for exercise (as long as the 2m rule is observed) ...

I'm not sure, what the rules are like where you are, but if people aren't allowed out AT ALL, then your problem is with that, not the coughing.

You are not! I'm not saying "don't go out" I'm saying "if you have a cough don't go out."

Every doctor I've read says the same thing.

I was just over at r/homeless and they are terrified that people will spread it to them because they can't stay home.

If you have a cough you should be at home isolating just to be safe.

I agree with all of this comment, and if you actually read my previous reply, you'll realise I specifically said that people with continuous coughs should stay home.

... but somebody walking past your house and coughing is not going to harm you unless they specifically cough through your open window... If they're walking, how do you know the difference between a single, isolated cough, and a 'continuous cough'?

I'm terrified that people will spread it to ME, because I'm disabled and need care; I still wouldn't hassle people over whether they should stay home or not, because I don't know their circumstances.

I agree with your last statement; I just think shouting at people for walking past your house and coughing is a bit much, if you don't know what their circumstances are - as had already been mentioned, by somebody other than me.

I'm disabled too. People were not just having a light cough. They were hacking. They needed to be inside. Instead when I looked they had on workout gear outside walking. No one needs a walk if they have a cough.

It's not just about me. People being outside coughing is a public health concern and if they spread it than people will have it and be able to spread it. You gotta look at the big picture.

Fair enough; that's not how it came across, in your original comment.

For real, Jesus Christ. Also, at least where I am, the sun last week made tree pollen EXPLODE so I was a wheezing sneezing coughing mess when I had to step outside to walk my dogs, and I’ve been isolated from other humans for 3 weeks now. Allergies are absolutely a thing in Spring lmao.

Okay but if you have COVID without symptoms and then cough/sneeze because of allergies, you still spread COVID?

Sure, and I’m doing my best to stay inside and away from other people because of that. But I still need to leave my house to walk my dogs, and you can definitely take a walk out of doors while maintaining 6-10 feet of distance from other people. OP was saying no one should be walking out of doors if they sneeze, period, and that’s not reasonable, even given social distancing mandates.
