There's some idea by some sociopaths in power that it'll keep coming back so it's better for most people to be exposed to it and then somehow others will eventually become immune. It doesn't work because there's no immunization for it so it just seems like eugenics to me.

“That it’ll keep coming back” isn’t that what viruses do?!? Most of us are self isolating because that’s how viruses work and we have to be cautious until there are better treatments and vaccines right?

I don’t understand science :(

No one understands, it doesn't make sense, they don't have enough beds because even the amount of young people who get really badly sick from this is more beds then anyone has, also no one knows how long immunity would even last if you get the disease and work your way through it (there are already a couple of cases of people getting reinfected though that seems really rare).

I know no government or doctors have the perfect answer right now but the herd immunity "strategy" is a particularly twisted way of just throwing up your hands and saying IDGAF.

It’s so dumb because this virus has already mutated so assuming people will have immunity for the same virus when it comes back??? Foolish.

the thing about herd immunity is that it happens once a vaccine is made. Seeing how there isn't one, the idea is stupid af.

herd immunity = "yolo I'm rich and have great healthcare don't make me try too hard to figure this out"

I live in a country that is going the herd community route and it's bizarre. Yes, the idea is that the healthy will likely get sick and recover, thus protecting the vulnerable from getting it. But where do we keep the vulnerable? Not every vulnerable person is a widowed person sitting alone in an apartment. My mother has COPD and I still live at home, so does my brother and also my dad. Are we expected to put her away or something? Let her die? It's mindboggling
