I definitely thought that infamous was just like... an extra special version of famous for a very, very long time. 😬

what do you mean? it's 'extra' as in 'beyond' or 'outside', like how extraterrestrial is beyond earthly and extrajudicial is outside the law or court.

I think she means extra as in "more" so extra ordinary would mean more ordinary , when it's actually more than ordinary

yes, this lmao

no, I know... but the prefix means those other things, so it's not stupid.

But extra means ‘more than or beyond’ not just ‘more’. So it’s always ‘more than’ ordinary

extra as in more

This has more to do with Spanish being my native language but for a while I thought that "terrific" meant something bad

Edit : and I love your icon

I think that's the archaic meaning of the word, like terror-inducing? So tbh you're not wrong!

Same. And I thought actually meant like "at the present time" (actualmente).

Huh. I've never heard "terrible" used in a positive way, at least in American English. "Awful" started out that way, though. It used to mean "awe inspiring" but now it just means "very bad" or just "very."

french is my second language too and most of my education was in french but.... "c'est pas terrible" will never stop confusing me.
