I finally got an email from work about the virus. at the first sign of a temperature or a persistent cough, we're to self isolate and call off work for 7 days.

buy saying tgat afaik they won't test people displaying symptoms in the UK, so god knows whats really going to happen.

I work in a hospital and we’ve been testing lots of people so the UK is testing.

oh really? i heard that people aren't being tested unless they display severe symptoms and in most cases people should self isolate without seeing someone?

not that I doubt you ofc! just wondering if i've had conflicting info.

No your right, but we are still testing.
If symptoms are mild and your okay to be at home then you won’t be tested. If you become unwell and need medical attention and symptoms have become more severe then you’ll be tested.
I work with children. So I don’t know about adults but we’ve been testing kids with any respiratory illness that have presented to hospital. The last figure I read was that 28000 people have been tested in the UK.

They have confirmed that testing will mostly be done in hospitals. I read this last night https://medium.com/@tomaspueyo/coronavirus-act-today-or-people-will-die-f4d3d9cd99ca and it actually made me understand the uk strategy of not testing everyone/how confirmed cases are pretty much wrong anyway that they can work out true cases from the number of deaths/closed cases. may put you at ease too!

They have said that they’re only testing people in hospitals, otherwise if you think you have it then you should self isolate and not call in unless it’s really serious. I think it’s a big concern on how accurate the figures on how many people have it are actually going to be in that case, and again it’s not how most other countries are managing it
