I did see Never Rarely Sometimes Always at an early screening, and I would highly recommend it. It's an extremely realistic look at the obstacles to getting abortion care in the US. It's slow, but purposeful, and despite avoiding melodrama, still had me crying at a couple of spots.

I'm probably not gonna go to the theaters this weekend - I'll just stay home and catch up on stuff I've missed. I really feel for all the movies being released rn that won't have much of an audience.

Oh man, the Terrence Malick movie is beautiful.

Not sure yet what we'll watch this weekend. I've been trying to watch/rewatch Wes Anderson movies, so maybe one of those, or a Celine Sciamma film, or Disappearance at Clifton Hill, or maybe we'll actually put a dent in The Americans. The one decent thing about spending more time at home is that there is truly no shortage of things to watch.

Just butting in, but imo bojack & buffy rewatchs > the Americans

I really don't get why people go so hard for this show. I found it pretty disappointing.

I think it might have to do with expectations though. I went in thinking I'd get a very serious drama about Russian spies in the cold war era, not a "case of the week" thing. I did find it entertaining, just not emotionally engaging at all.

Have you watched Better Call Saul?

no I havent. I never watched BB past a few eps in season 1 tbh.

Is the acting that great?

It's really different to BB. It's really slow and more like a weird mixture of character study/crime/legal drama. The acting is amazing but it's also just really moving and beautifully shot. It took me a few episodes but once I was immersed... I haven't been this excited about a show in so long!

What didn't you like about BB?

It just seemed far fethced and super white. Does it pick up?

I guess it's far-fetched but it's in my top 5 of shows. My creative writing teacher always used it as a "perfectly executed narrative" and I'd pretty much agree with her.
