Maybe Colbert will be funny again without relying on clapter

They should just cancel until further notice; I’m sure staff would prefer to not deal with the daily commute into Manhattan right now

That is... actually not true. Most of the people on late night shows are staffed. Crew is mostly union.

I think SNL is more like that? Or at least people were put on seasonal contracts and got let go all the time-- late night is at least on for enough of the year that it makes sense to make people full-time staff. Depending on the show, hiatuses tend to be paid too, which is nice. In other words though, they can pretty easily let a bulk of their staff at least work from home with VPNs to curb any possible spread. LWT and Sam Bee were in the CBS building that was hit!

honestly, my biggest pet peeve with Colbert's monologues is not the audience but how he much he looks over at Jon Batiste for feedback. Jon is an insanely talented musician but he's not very funny

He was way worse in the beginning, but yeah it’s still pretty bad. He doesn’t seem to be the most comfortable when it comes to non-musical things in front of the camera.
