Ontds "it's not a big deal" attitude is what will kill us who it is a big deal too. Stop acting like everyone is healthy and that those of us who are not are disposeable!!!

I'm pissed off reading the posts today. As I said, if a healthy"it's not a big deal" person gets me sick I'm beating ass and coughing on them before I die.

theres a happy medium here. people shouldn't be acting like its not big deal, but because of people going into full panic mode, theres a shortage of masks that hospitals DESPERATELY need more than a the people who are just hoarding them waiting for the apocalypse

Some of us have to be in panic mode because we will die. Die.

yes but im not talkng about people at high risk. im talking about people who don't even get flu shots or wash their asses suddenly buying out all the water, hand sanitizer and masks, leaving the people who need those things the most in a shitty situation.

I am talking about those of us that will die. Stop acting like we're some abstract people. We here. We have to see people playing with our health and not giving a fuck.

you're both agreeing...

people should take the disease seriously. there are people who can't afford to be blasé because they're high risk and they need all the resources they can get. there are other people who are using resources they don't need because they're panicking needlessly, and their actions will do little to protect them and those around them.

nothing in meow's comment suggested she thinks high risk people are some abstract concept.

I don't agree. I think everyone needs to be safe because if you get sick it may not matter because you're healthy but if you get me sick I will die. The only way for us to stay safe is if we're all safe.

thank you, this is what i was trying to express. i was doing a bad job of wording myself.

i have nurse friends who are worried about the shortage of masks and sanitizer, grocery stores are being wiped of cleaning supplies, water, food thats just being hoarded mostly by people who either arent going to use it, or are waiting to resell it at a profit when things are more dire.

sis did you even read their original comment

they are a high risk person specifically talking about being upset by how flippant some people are about COVID-19 because it endangers their life

your lecture belongs somewhere else

that 3.4% number IS scary but we don’t know exactly how many people out there have or had COVID19 and recovered without getting tested as a confirmed case. It makes sense that only the most serious cases, with severe symptoms, will be what’s reported on first since those are confirmed. The Diamond Princess is at 7 deaths out of around 700 positives, out of 4000 people tested. That’s much lower than 3.4%

The cruise ship isn’t downplaying. It’s literally a worst case scenario situation, a very close quarters environment that viruses already travel on very easily, with a large majority of older passengers.

Chris Hayes was on Colbert tonight and he said while 11 people have died in the US and the estimated number of people who have the virus is around 160, that the number of unreported cases is probably five times that much. He said because they haven't been testing there's no accurate way to say how many people are infected.

And the percentage in the US is 6.8% mortality, based on 11 of 160.
