SO beautiful, too good for this world, etc.

I will defend Fast Color til my dying day. That movie deserved way more than it got

I was waiting for that to come out in theaters, and it never did! So pissed.

I know :( same! I believe it had a very very limited release but didn't get marketed even halfway as much as it should have.

But it's on Hulu and Prime if you have either!

I'm with you. It was a really lovely movie and the best role Gugu's had in years. Le sigh. I hate that Hollywood has no idea what to do with her but at least she works consistently.

IA so much! And it played so well to Gugu's strengths(even her iconic crying face, lol) I mentioned here before but I got to see a screening of it with Julia Hart, and she was so appreciative to direct a film like it. She said Gugu had a lot of say of how her character was portrayed too.

I'm sure being such a fan of indies and women directed films, you feel the same as this, but I honestly don't understand how a film with so many things people claim to want in the industry - 3 strong Black female leads, directed by a woman, a superhero movie not tied to Marvel/DC, not male-gazey - did as poorly as it did

Ugh I understand it so well. Lots of things going against it. A woman director (even if she's white), black women leads, premiering at SXSW instead of somewhere like Sundance. All those little nicks and cuts crippling the film's chances of getting a theatrical release. At least it's online and lots of people can watch it. I would have loved to see it on the big screen though ( ... )
