Best picture went to Les Misérables which was also France's submission for the Best Foreign Film Oscar and which also won the César audience award.
Convicted child rapist Roman Polanski won Best Director. French actress Adèle Haenel who was nominated for a Best Actress award for Portrait of a Lady on Fire (and lost) and who came out as a child victim of sexual abuse last year had strongly opposed his nomination. She walked out of the ceremony as soon as he won and was joined by other attendees.
ONTD fave Portrait of a Lady on Fire was generally shut out of the wins (though cinematographer Claire Mathon won her category).
Parasite picked up another award and won the Best Foreign Film award.
