Model, restaurateur, and lifestyle guru Barbara "B." Smith died Saturday night at her Long Island home. She was 70.

Smith died Saturday evening after battling early onset Alzheimer's. Following her diagnosis in 2013, B. Smith and her husband, Dan Gasby, helped raised awareness of the disease, particularly its impacts on the African-American community.

Smith wrote three cookbooks, founded three successful restaurants and launched a nationally syndicated television show and a magazine. In 2001, she was the first black women to have a home products line distributed by a nationwide retailer, Bed Bath & Beyond.

Al Roker, Ava DuVernay, Tamron Hall, Viola Davis, and others offered their condolences to the late entrepreneur.

We lost legendary fashion model, chef, restaurateur, lifestyle icon and magazine publisher, B Smith today. 70 years old, she and her husband, Dan Gasby were at the forefront of #alzheimers #research for people of color. Love to them and daughter, Dana. #bsmithwithstyle pic.twitter.com/pqFOpa9oxs
