I watched Snowpiercer yesterday for the first time, really enjoyed it. Bong Joon Ho is a great director.

I bought The Handmaiden on Google Play today because it was $6 so I might watch that this weekend. I also rented The Farewell.

Definitely want to see Emma!

Update: I watched The Night Clerk to support Ana and I actually really enjoyed it lol and Tye was fantastic.

I just got home from David Copperfield and loved it! It was honestly a joy to watch, so delightful and whimsical. I loved the diverse casting as well. Dev Patel was perfect, it's a crime he's not a huge movie star by now tbh! I want to go see it again next week lmao

I don’t get the whole The Band thing. I get that they were a musicians musicians band at the time and culturally relevant... in that scene... but like... does anyone even listen to them? Sorry if I’m really ignorant on this...

Robbie Robertson is an excellent self-promoter is what it really comes down to, I think. I love The Band's songs and musicianship, and all three lead singers had unforgettable voices, but I think the surrounding iconography (Dylan, The Last Waltz, the internal strife and drug abuse) mostly overshadows that at this point, at least for casual audiences. I know for sure I will not be watching this doc because I have no interest in watching Robertson fellate himself for two hours.

All I know about the Band is that they used to sit around in that pink house and watch soap operas like All My Children and then go and write songs based on what they saw that day. Everyone tries to find some deep meaning in lyrics that were based on Erica Kane getting yet anther divorce or some such nonsense.
