Katy Keene, the latest addition to the Archie Comics television multiverse, premieres this Thursday February 6th on the CW. A stark departure from its dark, grim, crime and demon-ridden counterparts Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, KK is described as a New York fairy tale, a romantic dramedy about chasing your dreams and falling in love. Here's seven (three) things you can expect from the Riverdale spinoff.

IT’S GOT A MAGICAL TONE

Katy and friends' adventures in New York have a whimsical, almost magical feel to them, but not like Sabrina magic. More like that romantic comedy everyone's-nice-and-everything-works-out-and-miracles-happen-around-every-corner kinda feel. There's drama and struggles of course, but that Manhattan magic keeps the tone of the show optimistic and uplifting.

IT'S ALSO A JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS SHOW (SORT OF)

A majority of the characters are lifted not from the Katy Keene comics but are actually classic Josie and the Pussycats characters. Josie McCoy is one of the main regulars on the series, a transplant from Riverdale seeking to make it big in music. Some Pussycats characters include Alexandra and Alexander Cabot and Alan M. Mayberry. Still no word if Melody and Valerie from Riverdale will make an appearance.

THE POPPY DIALOGUE REMAINS

It wouldn't be a Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa property if all the characters didn't speak in overly witty, often cringey, and unrealistic dialogue! Expect lots of Broadway, fashion, and pop culture references aplenty. Don't expect the 1800's horror fiction references that Riverdale and CAOS believes teens use daily.

If you haven't already seen it, here's the trailer for the show.
