- HBO's programming chief told Variety that Game of Thrones' spin-off "House of the Dragon" would likely premiere in 2022
- House of the Dragon is based on George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal's pseudo-history novel "Fire & Blood" which is set 300 years before the events of the first season of GOT. It follows the conquest of Aegon Targaryen all the way to the Targaryen civil war called the Dance of the Dragons as well as origin stories from other famous houses
- Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik will be the showrunners. Sapochnik was an executive producer on GOT and directed six episodes including Emmy-winning "Battle of Bastards" and Emmy-nominated "The Long Night"
- No word on the casting yet
