HBO has confirmed that the proposed David Benioff and D.B. Weiss series Confederate is no more. The Game of Thrones EPs had dreamt up a sci-fi drama that envisioned an alternate history where the South seceded from the Union and slavery remained legal to this day, drawing outrage from basically everyone when it was announced three years ago. The show had been in limbo since last winter when the pair signed up for a Star Wars project, which they have since left for a Netflix deal.
