I really don’t care about marriage. I’m with Whoopi I don’t want someone in my house.

honestly i like this conceptually a lot lol. its funny, my mom was telling me about how she feels like there comes a point in many longterm relationships where the couples just stop sleeping in the same area. all of her older sisters + my grandparents all sleep separately but still live together. theres nothing wrong w/ the relationships or any less love, mostly there are varying health concerns (like my grandpa sleeps with a loud ass sleep machine that my grandma cant stand lol) or just a desire to exist in ur own space. i just wish that concept was more normalized in younger people's relationships, a lot of people assume if youre not attached at the hip and codependent theres something wrong in your relationship.

im really into it, too! maybe not whole houses, but if i ever get married, i think it will be important to have my own bedroom. we can still sleep together in one of the beds at night, but i need a place that belongs just to me to retreat to. plus, if we're in the fight, im not gonna sit next to you on the couch and have to look at your smug face all night lol ( ... )

i just replied to the comment above you w/ similar sentiment but most older (as in, the parties are both 55+) couples i know have separate bedrooms and i wish it was something normalized amongst younger people because of this idea of you have to be around your partner ALL the time or theres something "wrong". like damn, i just like having my own independent and autonomous space lol
