Spinning Out is the first trashy Netflix binge of 2020

"The series is at its best as an exposé of the sacrifices entire families make in order to train an Olympic-caliber skater and the ways in which generational poverty and mental illness are derided in the luxury sport," writes @kpfallon https://t.co/na3SVtRdRs

i actually liked the first couple episodes when they were just hanging out at the rink and being bitchy to each other - it almost reminded me of stick it and funny enough, her russian coach was also in stick it?!

but then so much stuff happened and i started to wonder how they managed to practice?! [Spoiler (click to open)]also, she overcame her fear of doing jumps super fast to make more time for the personal drama in her life lmao

[Spoiler (click to open)]Didn't she "overcome" her fear by going off her lithium pills?

[Spoiler (click to open)]i watched this the day it came, so i don't remember the exact timeline but thinking about it, yeah, that was the show's way of explaining it. but it still felt super rushed to me, because they made such a big deal out of it at first and wouldn't she still have to practice her ass off to properly do them? it was a little bit like: problem solved, she's back to being a world class skater again!

hah I sort of forget too! also the timeline leading up to their final performance was questionable in terms of practice

No.

It was practice, time (admittedly they rushed through this), trust + the harness that helped her start jumping again.

She went off the pills to have the energy to do harder routines because she thought they made her sluggish. When she was manic she was willing to pratice until she dropped basically.

Lol. I know I saw this too. I mixed it up with the tv show that was on abc family/free form back in the day. I forget the name of it now. Hahaha. Oops.
