I know the trades are focusing on '1917' having a big boom this weekend with its wide release - $3.2 Million on Thursday - but I as usual will focus on actual new releases.

Paramount's comedy 'Like a Boss', starring Tiffany Haddish, Rose Byrne, and Salma Hayek, made $1M from previews and should pick up $11 million this weekend (on a $29M budget).

Well behind everything else is Kristen Stewart's critically-trashed 'Underwater', which made $500,000 in previews and is expected to earn less than $10 million (on a $60 million budget, welp).

Going back to '1917', it's expected to make $25 million more this weekend (on a $100 million budget). 'Just Mercy' was just released wide as well, made $800,000 on Thursday, and is expected to bring in $10 million more (on a $25 million budget).

Happy new year, I guess.
