what is with this trend of country leaning albums from pop stars? given our political climate, it feels... weird... even when i like some of the music.

Most of the other tracks sound more like her first ep & album. This and Finally are the only two twangy ones

I think some of it is calculated but I also think from some of these artists it's genuine. These are the kids who grew up on the 90s New Country explosion and it makes sense that they reference those sounds in their own music now.

wow, this is late, just wanted to peek in (because the other commenter was rude for no reason) and say you've probably got a point; halsey was coming up when dixie chicks/carrie underwood/taylor swift (country era) were big chart/social presences, so it's not completely out of left field
