ooh a lot of these look interesting

i just finished the first season of succession, i'm not 100% in love but the finale was fantastic and i am obsessed with wambsgams. was macfadyen always this funny? i didn't even recognise the guy at first.

movie wise i've been in a draught, just waiting for lighthouse and little women to open in my backwater, but i did finally get to see Rabid, the cronenberg remake. i was really interested because i loved the soska sisters' previous feature American Mary. it wasn't as strong at the end of the day but it did have really cool effects and a lo fi charm, and the obviously gorgeous actress managed to pull off the wallflower with glasses cliche pretty believably in the beginning (before obviously turning supermodel seductress), aided by a makeup job which just made her skin look like shit. that's the sort of light touch detail i don't think a male director/writer would have been able to think of.

It took me four eps into S2 to love Succession, so glad my husband kept wanting to watch!

aided by a makeup job which just made her skin look like shit.

love when you can tell a woman was directing because of these kinds of details.

I just finished the first season of Succession too! I think it's great except for some reason it took me like four tries to get through the eighth episode lol (the one with the bachelor party). I absolutely love the cast though, everyone is perfect

Went to a screening of Honey Boy last night. It was a rough watch, and I definitely do not recommend if child abuse is a trigger for you. That being said, it's really good - Alma Har'el's direction is fantastic, and Noah Jupe carries the film on his back.

I still have so many more movies to watch before Film Independent voting starts! I wish all of this shit wasn't so early this year.

Going to a screening of The Vast of Night this evening - I wanted to see it at TIFF but it didn't premiere til after we left.

I just want to apologize for not engaging with these posts more often because they are easily my favorite reoccurring posts and I learn about so many great movies from them. 💕

Totally understandable! I post a lot of things, including these posts, that tend to be more informational than discussion-inspiring, lol.
