With the Internet, it doesn't seem like we have big name stars anymore. Growing up, everyone seemed to know the A-list stars like Julia Roberts, Will Smith, Robin Williams, etc.

based on this survey, i think the only current A-list star right now is the rock lmao. the only ones more known than him are the two most recent presidents and somehow even boomers mostly know who he is

yeah, most of my middle schoolers only talk about Tik Tok and don't understand any of my pop culture references.

I don't understand (the point of) Tik Tok at all, tbh. Maybe I'm just too old for that.

We had a school dance, and tons of kids were hiding in the bathroom stalls watching Tik Tok. I had to go in there and tell them to get out of the bathroom and socialize. It was weird.

I love TikTok lmao. But I was thirty for something to fill the void Vine left so.

But wasn't Vine all about making your own original content? Because I thought TikTok is just about lip synching to already existing songs/movies etc?

The app that TikTok replaced, Musical.ly, was like that, but TikTok is much more similar to Vine.

It’s basically vine. It can be really good when people get creative. One time I saw a girl silently lip syncing in her headphones while doing weird moves for a TikTok at a KFC food court and it was so cringeworthy I almost laughed at her

I didn't realize you could actually make original and creative content, I thought it's just about lip synching to songs/movies and I just don't get what the appeal about that is.

People do a lot of creative shit with editing and re dubbing different media. That’s my fave sub genre tbh

Ah ok, thank you for explaining! That sounds like it could be a lot of fun actually.

Nothing makes me feel more like a boomer than tiktok. I enjoy vine compilations on youtube but I just can't be bothered with tiktok.
