I don't mind Bendemption but they did it terribly. It was so dumb to be like "this is about honoring the Skywalkers!!!!" and then kill off all of them.

lmao @ bendemption.

and don't you honor the people you love by killing them one by one and ending their bloodline forever???

Their name will continue with Rey.

that's...not really the point tho. her taking their name doesn't cancel out that that family was effectively wiped out by this trilogy.

If any Skywalker was to survive it should have been Leia (probably would have been the case if Carrie hadn't passed away) or Luke. Good riddance to Crylo Ren.

That’s like saying you’re not family if you’re only adopted and not related by blood.

are...you serious right now?

Yes. The Skywalker name will still continue will Rey, they’re not gone. The whole point of it was that her blood isn’t what defines her.

they are absolutely gone because they are dead. its not about defining who rey is--that's not what i'm talking about. its about killing off an entire family and then at the end having rey use their name as a way to honor them as if that justifies offing all of them. she could have been a skywalker with them alive. and furthermore, you're acting as if she was adopted by them, became a part of the family and then i said she wasn't one of them. they were all killed and then she took up the name. its a shitty way of honoring them by the filmmakers. maybe just don't kill them.

I don’t think Leia would have originally died, but Carrie’s passing changed things. I think they did the best there with what they were given.

i will agree that by ros there wasn't much they could do, especially with her passing.

Leia wasn't a Skywalker, she went by her adoptive family surname. Like, weren't you defending adoption? She never used her biological's father surname. That was just disney giving the Skywalker name to Rey just to sell merch.

Kylo never used the name either, but he was still called a Skywalker.

And the ending where Rey looks at Luke and Leia before taking the name suggests she is honoring both of them and not just Luke.

When is Kylo called a Skywalker? His name was Ben Solo, he hated Luke and we have no idea what he thought of Anakin. I don't care what the ending implies, Leia isn't a Skywalker because she actually respected the people that raised her and Luke wasn't that close to Rey for her to name herself after him. It was just a bs decision done due to marketing. To imply otherwise is to insult yourself.

Leia being a Skywalker doesn’t mean she isn’t also an Organa. And Palpatine calls Kylo the last Skywalker during the final battle.

I also doubt Rey taking the name has to do with marketing; her action figures will be the same regardless. We’re not talking about something like whether or not Kylo has his helmet, which I can believe was brought back for the merchandising.
