So the two people that I've known that have hooked up/dated married men don't know what normal relationships are. Like they can fight this all they want, but just ask them, "describe a normal relationship you've had," and they always end up recounting a soap opera or telling you they broke up with the only normal guy they dated because he was "boring/safe etc."

People can argue and be like "didn't you notice it was weird they couldn't talk to you during certain hours, or refuse to take you out in public?" They don't, because they aren't looking for the normal things the rest of us are. One girl literally said to me that he couldn't talk to her at night because of his "night shifts" and that his supervisor didn't let him "use his phone till the morning." I was sitting there like, "and you see nothing fishy with this?" It blew my damn mind.

As someone who studies Psychology, I wish I could study things like this but alas, tis not in my future field. It does appear that growing up and seeing dysfuctional relationships is a big factor though

In my experience, no, they don't. They love the drama and feeling special, because they always believe the dude when he says his current partner is crazy/mean/doesn't care about them/whatever but they can't leave her right now because it's ~complicated~.
