News have been stated from Swedish newspaper Express. The singer has been fighting cancer since 2002.
Her family wrote the following statement: "It is with great sadness that we have to announce that one of our biggest and most beloved artists is gone. Marie Fredriksson died on the morning of December 9 in the suites of her previous illness".
Her management team posted a note on this link in their social media.
