"Beetlejuice" seemed to be beating the odds on Broadway. But now it's getting the boot. https://t.co/1ojvEzwCBT

Beetlejuice premiered on Broadway last fall, and though it got off to a shaky start, the box office has really picked up over the past few months.

Unfortunately, the theater that houses the show, the Winter Garden, has elected to kick them out as of June 6th for an even more profitable tenant - The Music Man, from prolific producer Scott Rudin and starring box office draw Hugh Jackman, which begins its run in the fall.

Despite the fact that Beetlejuice just set a record for the theater over the Thanksgiving holiday, the show's grosses dipped low enough to invoke a stop clause - the theater's right to kick them out - last May, and that is what they are using as justification to evict the show. Since then, the grosses have increased, with lots of first time Broadway visitors falling for the show.

Warner Brothers has attempted to try to find a compromise, but Scott Rudin isn't interested in taking The Music Man to a different theater. However, Beetlejuice is still searching for a new theater, and has announced a national tour beginning in fall 2021. Check under the cuts for more theater news.
