So far yes I'd say so. Only three original characters have returned, so the majority of the cast is new. I'm sure there will be references and callbacks that you won't get, but it'd probably be easy enough to follow. I'm a pathetic TLW stan though so I recommend giving the original a try at some point lol

Yes. Nothing really ties it up from the original, other than a few tid-bits. There was Bette and Tina who had a baby together. Now she's all grown and in high school. That's one character. Shane's back. Alice is another character. So, you don't need any further introduction, because that's all the actors who came back so far, I think. Jenny died, no one cares, and they'll never address the murder lol. That's it.
