I just finished watching it (I guess it was released early??). It wasn't as bad as I was expecting!

lol "It wasn't as bad as I was expecting!" is about as high praise as I was expecting from The L Word. I'll watch it, like the garbage person I am who watched all of the original trash series

Can I watch this without having seen the original?

So far yes I'd say so. Only three original characters have returned, so the majority of the cast is new. I'm sure there will be references and callbacks that you won't get, but it'd probably be easy enough to follow. I'm a pathetic TLW stan though so I recommend giving the original a try at some point lol

Yes. Nothing really ties it up from the original, other than a few tid-bits. There was Bette and Tina who had a baby together. Now she's all grown and in high school. That's one character. Shane's back. Alice is another character. So, you don't need any further introduction, because that's all the actors who came back so far, I think. Jenny died, no one cares, and they'll never address the murder lol. That's it.

The opioid and evil corporation side plot thing felt sooo out of place, lol.

Wasn't a complete mess, but wasn't good either. The main couple, Dani and Sophia (Sophie?) don't have any romantic chemistry, I'm ready for Bette to fuck their relationship up.

Omg, I totally agree. And, I really don't think Dani would be dating Sophie irl. Dani has huge money, upper class, works for a giant family company, etc. and they just live in that one bedroom apartment (like the other character mentioned at Shane's house)? I don't buy it. How did they even meet anyway? They seem like an odd pairing, like they only put them together just to tie up the characters. Idk. And, I bet Bette will sleep with her of course. Can't wait until Sophie compromises her position at her company and her engagement. Drama!

i think finley lives in a one bedroom apartment. the apartment we saw is shared with dani, sophie, and micah.

i can kinda believe them together. i bet they met in college or something and sophie is really warm which is like the complete opposite of dani's family.

My expectations were extremely fucking low, and it ended up not being as bad as I'd anticipated. I didn't love it though and I'm still really disappointed that more original characters didn't return. I'll keep giving it a chance, but at the same time I'm expecting it to piss me off eventually lol. To say something actually positive: it was really nice to see Shane, Bette, and Alice again. I may have cried a little 😊

i liked it. got to see characters i already liked and the new set weren't annoying. enjoyable premiere, will watch next week.

it was bugging me where i recognized Dani from then it hit me she looks a lot like Jill Hennesssy.
