Summary of conversation [Spoiler (click to open)] Whoopi sings Momma Said Knock You Out, Meghan says everyone in America loves you. Song came out 29 years ago [what?!]. LL says it’s amazing for the song to continue to grow, it wasn’t as big when it came out, it grew over time. Sunny fangirls, loves the video. Says he has a radio show on Sirius XM channel 43. In the old days, says they weren’t looking for fame or cover of Forbes, they wanted to be heard.
Joy talks misogyny in rap. Quotes LL, are we going to erase all the music. Says the real answer is Art is Art, you really don’t have to listen. Says some people are offended by nudity of sculpture David. People have the right to feel how they feel about lyrics, and raise their children how they want. But you have to give the right for artists to do and say and create how you want, then you have the right to appreciate or be offended. Follow the laws, create how you want, then we’ll [the audience] take it from there in terms of judgment. Joy moves to NCIS, in its 11th season and recently celebrated 250th episode. Joy says his fans have connected, asks LL why he thinks that happened. LL says if he really knew, it would be bigger. He still cares, they don’t phone it in, pays attention, hasn’t gotten jaded because of where he came from. He needs to make the most of it, so he does. Meghan brings up his fitness, mentions his appearance on the show years ago. Plays clip. LL is lifting Joy. Joy says she’s lighter now than she was then, but he’s older. Joy and LL talk about lifting her again (he doesn’t), Joy says at least it proved she has legs. Whoopi tells joke, LL rings bell on table.
Hot Topic T.I. is Still Wrong and is Not Sexy While Doing So
TI was on Jada’s Red Table Talk for damage control about the hymen-gate. Plays clip. Plays another clip. Panel first discusses the background. Gets sidetracked because supposedly the panel were advised not to say the word hymen. Sunny goes on, talks her background growing up Catholic, made to feel embarrassed. Brings up comments TI made about his son vs his daughter, how TI says his household is changed. Abby viewed it differently. Gave him credit in p.c. environment to go out there and have the conversation, she watched RTT and observed him willing to listen to what Jada was saying. Talks her experience thinking about her pregnancy vs her husband probably rarely thought about it, she thinks that’s what TI was talking about it. Whoopi said his daughter didn’t want it talked about in public. Meghan says blah blah. Has MyDad™ story. Plays clip. Whoopi says if you’ve raised your daughter to be the person you want her to be, then maybe you should trust her.
Talks about the holidays, grandparents oversharing photos of their grandkids on social media. Joy wonders how the elderly using Fb even know how. Abby tells social media story about her grandma and her mom. Sunny talks about her mom on Fb but doesn’t know how to use it, so she reads it but gets upset about things people say about Sunny. She doesn’t know how to comment, says Sorry because her mom is probably watching. Abby says also they don’t know how to edit the photo. Whoopi says you’re getting what you deserve, you posted things you probably shouldn’t have, so this is payback. Be glad they don’t know how to do social media. But Whoopi thinks older people do know how to use social media more than we give them credit. Be careful because now you’ve put everything out there in the social ether. Has an Old moment about Youth social media habits. Sidebar about Kim Kardashian remark. Joy makes T45 joke. Whoopi is aggressive again.
Arica is on Mixed-ish and plays the younger version of Tracee Ellis Ross character from Black-ish. AH was at Joe’s Crab Shack with her father when she got the call from her agent that she was being offered the role, next day went to Disneyland. Joy explains show, spin-off of Black-ish, says Tracee has become her mentor. AH talks about the advice TER has given her, to not worry about being an imitation, and being herself. Sunny talks about the character being mixed race, what does AH want people to take away from that. AH says no matter who you are or what you identify as, don’t be afraid. People may judge you, but it’s amazing to just be yourself. Meghan talks about Mariah Carey wanting to sing the theme song. AH saw her at the premiere, got to wave at her, she was excited. Sunny says show is set back in the 1980s, are there props she doesn’t recognize. AH talks about a tape in a boom box. She wasn’t sure how to do it, she put the tape in while it was still in the case (lol). Joy wonders if she’s seen a radio, AH says Yes. Sunny mentions Marsai Martin (close in age to Arica) and her show she produced, wonders if AH has similar aspirations. AH wants to direct and write her own movies. She used to do that at home of her cat and her friends. Panel encourages and gives her advice. Sunny says Ava Duvernay is someone she looks up to.
