The "alternate ending" they shot was Jon & Tormund holding hands. They apparnatly wanted them to kiss but it didn't work with them on horseback based on what I've read. I didn't want to listen to D&D go on with Emilia for 80 minutes praising the episode.
I don't think it was actually going to make it on screen, but the other day Kristofer mentioned shooting an alternate ending - and apparently that was what he was talking about. I don't think they ever planned to make it into the episode, but when the episode aired people were joking about how Jormund was endgame over Jonerys or Jonsa.
I wonder how long they'll wait before they reboot this shit. And if they'll just remake it (noooooo, please) or if they'll pull a Star Wars and bring back some old characters to interact with new ones who are the center of the story (still no but less noooooo than the former)

As it stands, there's all kinds of emphasis on Sansa being given a weapon, which she never uses.
