Film Independent announced the nominees for the Independent Spirit Awards this morning. Films have to have a total budget of $22.5

In order to qualify for the Spirit Awards the film needs to have a budget less than $22.5 million, and Hustlers budget was $20.7 million

thank you, I evidently didn't have basic understanding of Spirit Award qualifications

They increased it a bit this year - I think it used to be $20 million. I'll add that to the post!

which is why i never got why the shape of water wasn't eligible, since GDT said it was made for right under $20m
