None of this will do anything. He won’t be removed from office, he won’t go to jail, and he will be re-elected. This is a dog and pony show meant to placate the Democratic voters and will result in driving Trump voters to the polls - not Democrats. And we just sit on our asses and watch, feeling like if there’s a chance the government could actually take some action then we don’t have to. And this is how democracy ends.

That’s not borne by facts. Since we’ve officially begun the impeachment inquiry we have had increased Republican turnout but we’ve had even higher Democratic turnout with indication that many former Trump voters flipped and voted for the dem. In the past two weeks, we’ve had deep red states elect Democratic governors once their elections have been linked to support for Trump. There were features unique to those races that helped the democrats absent Trump but the idea that impeachment has been harmful or differentially helpful to Republicans is not supported.

However I agree - American democracy has a fast approaching expiration date thanks to the Republican Party.

In short, I’ll say there have been deficiencies across the board but any idea that the Republicans in government haven’t been disproportionately responsible for the clusterfuck we live in today and where we’re going falls outside the bounds of fact and reality.

What have you done? Make some calls? LOL.

Where did I indicate in any way that I was an outlier of the Democratic Party sheep I described?

Doing something and complaining aren't mutually exclusive though. You don't need to be optimistic to be proactive, which I feel like is something optimistic people really do not get tbh

I get that, I tend to do things not because I necessarily think it's going to make a huge difference but because I think it's the right thing to do. It's just something I've noticed with optimistic people over the years, they tend to think those of us who aren't aren't doing anything.

Speak for yourself. I haven't been sitting on my ass since before the 2016 election. I've been out knocking doors and phone banking. I've made menially donated to campaigns across this country. I'm doing what I can. And there are folks like me out there. Would it be better that more people were doing these things? Yes, but that's not reality.

While I'm aware that Trump will likely not be removed from office and he may likely be reelected, I will continue to do what I can because doing something is a hell of a lot better than doing nothing and sitting on the sidelines bitching about how nothing is going to change.

I think the comment made clear I meant Democrats. I await your #notalldemocrats response, though.

I mean, #notalldemocrats is accurate and doing a little to try to make an impact better than doing nothing at all and being apathetic and dragging other people down as well. Some of us are trying.

Being apathetic is also a part of why people don't want to bother because they get the idea their voice and actions don't matter.

Dems as a whole can be doing much more and better, but I'd rather do something just because it's the right thing to do than sit on my hands because I feel like the party is trash.

Lol you're criticizing people for holding the president accountable for breaking the law? I really don't understand people like you who just criticize the Democrats for trying to do something. This is all going to be over by Christmas so we'll have 11 months for Trump supporters to calm down and 11 months for Democrats to be riled up that nothing happened.
