nn i was so confused when i saw the title. i was like, did i miss a whole ass season somehow???

also obligatory "should jake and amy have kids" episode was the worst episode in the history of the show

I haaaated it. There are very few B99 plots I've hated, but I hated Jake being pressured into reversing his valid concerns and clear issues with the threat of a breakup over the course of one stupid episode. Amy knows about his family life and she's never been this unreasonable, they've always been written as being able to understand each other and work through it both funnily and logically even when they have different thoughts, but this episode was so off kilter for everyone.

I'm so happy others hated it for the same reasons. Also, am I supposed to accept that AMY of all people would accept that offhand comment from Jake (which turned out to be false anyways) as the only discussion they had about having kids? Before they even got married? It really was a terribly written episode and that is rare for them

Yes. I'd never felt like Amy had been written as only an unfunny taskmaster and Jake as only a perpetual manchild before, they both had funnier and more serious aspects respectively and it made them well rounded, enjoyable characters. This episode just made Amy seem like the grown up tsk tsk-ing at childish Jake over something as important in a marriage as the choice to have kids. Amy would have had a binder full of specific timelines for discussions and possible fruition and Jake would have had the chance to put forth all his misgivings and work through it way before this. This was disappointing and made me not like them as a couple in that episode.

i really hated amy for that episode. jake isnt wrong for his reasons. and ultimately giving in to your other half when u rlly have no desire to have kids always ends well *eyeroll*

Has there ever been a decent child-free storyline that didn’t end with someone forcing them to change their mind or revealing ~they did want kids all along~

It had the forcing part but I love how Cristina Yang on Grey's never once changed her mind about kids. Owen was an asshole about it so I'm glad she left his ass (and aborted the fetus) and went on to live her happy, childfree life being the amazing doctor she is.

The episode they did with the flash forwards into her potential life with Owen, having kids, was so good. It really underlined how much kids were the wrong choice for Cristina and how it would grind her down as a person.

To this day, Owen is an anti-choice devil man. Why is he not dead??

Right? He's the absolute worst and I'm pissed he got a baby, especially with Teddy who's lovely but clearly hates herself. He's pressured every single woman he's been with to have a kid, he's fucking awful.

TERRIBLE episode. everyone was written so out of character just to further the point of view the writers wanted to push.
