All of my friends struggled/are struggling to get pregnant (we're ~30 years old) and now my husband and I are also struggling.

I see all these celebs (my age and older) and just wonder, was it as easy as it looks or did they have to do fertility treatments?

Also, I just found out infertility stuff is NOT covered at all by my insurance (straight up not even a fucking consult). So that's shitty.

I think that a lot more actresses get fertility treatments than we realize. Like, every time an actress has twins, I just assume that she had IVF.

I sympathize with you on the fertility issues. My husband and I are currently struggling to get pregnant with our first child (we're both 37), and our insurance only covers artificial insemination. We have our first consult for that in January. I'm finding it very difficult to keep my hopes up.

:( Did you already take Clomid and try that and now doing IUI? I have a friend who had IVF covered but not IUI so she did one round of IUI and then it was just too expensive so she went right to IVF instead.

My fingers are crossed for you guys!

Actually, my husband has been taking Clomid to boost his low sperm count. I've had some blood tests and an internal ultrasound, and everything checks out fine on my end. (Though our doctor is still concerned simply based on my age). Hoping that the IUI works for us, because we don't really have any other options. We've been trying naturally for almost a year.

By the way, I realize that it's a bit weird to be talking about this with a stranger on the internet, but very few people in my personal life know what we're going through (pretty much just my mom and my best friend)... so I'm glad for the chance to vent, and the genuine sympathy is also much appreciated. Thank you. :)

I haven't talked about this stuff with anyone either besides my husband. I have a close friend who just got pregnant but then lost it (very early on), so I really don't want to bring stuff up to her just yet. So it's def not strange to talk about because I think it's something that's so hard to bring up to people in your life.

My fingers are crossed for you guys!

Thanks. :) It's especially difficult for me right now because my brother's wife is actually 7 months pregnant with their first baby, and I can't tell them what's been going on with me because I don't want to spoil their happiness.
Anyway, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you as well! :)

My sister in law got pregnant super easily at 37 and also my cousin at 40 but they never took birth control pills and I’m starting to wonder if that makes a bigger difference than women were led to believe.

I've wondered that too. I was on BC for over 10 years and had no issues before with my period. Now I've been off for 6 months and my periods are still not regular. Lots of factors could be contributing but I've certainly had that in my mind. Good for them though that they didn't struggle getting pregnant (assuming they wanted it lol).

It took me six years to get pregnant between my two kids. I had endometriosis and adenomyosis, though.

Hey, you've got 2 kids though. That's great!

Oh definitely. If we had had the money to do a fertility specialist, we would have figured it out a lot sooner.

Celebs def do. Chrissy Teigen was open about it iirc.

i wonder about this all the time. i mean, obviously it's none of my fucking business but there is a part of me that wishes more of them would be open about it if that's the case. idk. i have pcos so fertility is a sensitive topic for me anyway but it'd be nice to hear "it wasn't that easy ok!"

I have a vaginal ultrasound on Tuesday and I'm fucking terrified for it. I'm worried I'll find out I have PCOS. Lots of my friends have it, so I know it's really common, and they all have kids lol. I'm just a hypochondriac so I'm terrified.

Sadly fertility treatments being covered by insurance are only required by some states. I’m sorry you’re going through this.
