It definitely is a western. Brings back the feeling of the original trilogy.

I've never seen a single star wars movie but I just watched this and it definitely felt like a spaghetti western. He's basically a space cowboy. He even rides that weird pig creature like a horse and there's a classic shootout scene. I loved it

I actually really loved it? I was getting a bit worried during the first half because he was acting like too much of a silent badass and I was like “is he just gonna be a boring protagonist with no personality?”

But then the second half is where things really got good. That lil bit of Mandalorian lore, the fact that he’s NOT invincible and can actually have some embarrassing moments (like falling off that creature I loved how humanizing that was.) and that he can be polite and fair and also snarky and panic a bit when things start going side ways. I was pleased with his characterization.

Also the reveal of who the asset was. I GASPED. And omg, it was too fucking cute.

Also Pedro’s voice is oddly soothing in this role. I hope we get to see him without his helmet at least once this season.

It was pretty ballsy yeah, especially considering how crazy some of those Star Wars purists can be. I personally loved it so much.

It's funny because back in 2018 a rumor emerged that The Mandalorian was going to be based off of Lone Wolf and Cub (a japanese manga about a lone samurai and his one year old baby) so I guess those leaks were right.
