ONTD ORIGINAL: Christmas Songs! Remakes and Originals by Current Artists
Tis the season to spend money on Starbucks Christmas decor! Personally, I am all about the cups and mugs. I have too many. Anyway.
The first half of this post are musical remakes by modern artists, and the second half is all new*! Christmas songs!
* 'new' being, well, they're original.
First off, LAST CHRISTMAS came out yesterday! Did anyone see it/care? No? Aw, alright. Here's less than a minute of Emilia Clarke singing ("singing") Last Christmas.
This year, to save you some tears, I'll go to Rotten Tomatoes and check the score before going to the cinema.
We can't have a holiday music post without the Master of Musical Merriment, Michael "Allegedly Cheated on Emily Blunt" Buble! Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas!
Time for him to come out of his cave and make his Christmas music rounds. Are you ready?
Next up is my personal favorite of these non-secular tunes;
Let nothing you dismay with Pentatonix's remix of God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen.
They also remade "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing". Not their Best
Same song, different style, tone, and dude - This time, it's Hozier
It's the bit before he goes "Where we were gone astray" that gets me.
Disclaimer - I had no idea Mariah Carey covered Hark! The Herald Angels Sing until this morning;
It's no "All I Want For Christmas is You", but I like it.
And here's the modern stuff;
Despite half of this duo being clownlike, I love this song; Gwen Stefani and Blake "Sexiest Man in America" Shelton; You Make It Feel Like Christmas
The following is not the first time I've mentioned this song on ONTD and it bears repeating; Despite sampling (Is it sampling, or is the song in the public domain by now) Jingle Bells, this song is 99% original -
Lil Jon + The Kool Aid Man - All I Really Want For Christmas
Is it a song, or a warning? Either way, Sia is here to tell us that Santa's Coming For Us
Suggestion - play it on 1.25x speed. It's better.
