Is it true Missy admitted she was in love with Aaliyah like Timbo did? I can’t find anything when I search for it but people swear up and down she said it. I hope she didn’t.

I been reflecting on Aaliyah’s career a lot. Stuff I didn’t notice as being creepy I now recognize as such. Like, she recorded and promoted an album of slow jams when she was 16 and 17 respectively. And then we got adults talking about how they fell in love with her at first sight while writing pseudo sexual songs for her to sing. And Jay-Z was trying to holler in the late 90s to while she was underaged. And this isn’t taking into account the R Kelly stuff that doesn’t even need to be mentioned at this point. Only Dame treated her right, and they started dating when she was 20 and he 29. Nobody did her right. And her creepy ass uncle trying to keep her catalog off of streaming as “repentant” only hurts her legacy.

Yeah there was a lot of creepiness around her back then. Idk why specifically. I guess she did seem older than she was ? That is no excuse whatsoever but I just wonder why people felt okay to speak about her in certain ways which they wouldn't speak about other people her age. Maybe because she passed too people feel like they can just let out all of their thoughts with no backlash....? It's just strange/sad

Oh and an album called age ain't nothin but a number, too??? So creepy

A lot of it has to do with how we talk a out black wines. We’re sexualized from a young age. But I think a ton of it stemmed from R Kelly. People looked at their relationship and assumed she must have been down with other men, so they had a chance too. Like, I wonder if Brandy and Monica, her same age peers, got the amount of shit she did.

is the streaming thing...what?
Is that the reason?

It's bizarre that her catalog, which isn't big at all, can't be found digitally anywhere really. Whether purchasing or streaming.

Except "Age Aint..."

I don't get why the family wouldn't want the extra revenue...

That’s one of the things her uncle claimed was the reason. It’s probably a mix of that and him not wanting to split the streaming revenue with people he owes money (which is a lot). “Age Ain’t Nothing...”’s masters aren’t owned by her uncle which is why it’s own streaming platforms. Not sure who owes the rights but I think R Kelly owes them since he wrote and produced the album.
