I still don't understand the point of this show when we know the story and how it ends

as I said in the other post, the only Targaryen show I want is one where it's revealed Bran Buttigieg warged into Dany to make her seem evil and my girl is redeemed

otherwise, what's the point of watching a series about a family who is doomed to evil madness?

i mean, most book to movie/series adaptations are completed prior to filming right? plus, there is a lot that we don't know, questions that the show may answer.

I mean who am I kidding, I'll watch it, but the question of whether Targaryens were at all redeemable was pretty much answered with Game of Thrones. It's not about the details or knowing the ending, it's why do I want to explore a family that is coded as doomed evil Nazis?

they better have some really original ideas is all I'm saying.

I suspect they figured it would be like the Star Wars prequels. Everyone knew how it ends and went to see them.

I think Dany was supposed to get darker but I think the show whitewashed Arya, Tyrion, Jon, etc.. and they look like will also get darker in the books just like her. I have doubts Martin told them she ends up like Hitler, but I would like to know what he told them.

I'm endlessly intrigued by exactly WHAT D&D were told about the ending and if they started checking out on the series when they realized Dany was gonna get the shit end of the stick story wise since they've always kind of been distant and cold towards the Bran storyline.

That's my own personal headcanon as to why they seem so passionless about it. The timelines from the huge drop in quality and their bad attitudes seems to sort of line up with that.

maybe that is it. they were clearly huge on Dany and got mad about the ending lol

I haven't done any extensive research into the timelines adding up exactly but it was the only thing I could think during all the BTS they did for the past couple of seasons seemed sooooo over it and not in a "excited to move on" but in a "I genuinely don't care about this thing anymore" and as people who were originally pretty passionate about it, my brain tries to find reasons for that beyond "Oh they had other projects".

I don't think you are wrong. they learned about it a couple of seasons in.. and from their choices with Dany and Jon, I can see them just not caring about it anymore - because of it.

I think they didn't really know what they were doing and some of the changes were really weird (what they did with Dorne, giving Sansa the plot of Jeyne Poole). There was no reason for them to really change who Robb married IMO or to erase Garlan & Willas Tyrell from existance (they didn't have to be major characters - but even a passing line about them existing or Garlan having kids and fighting during Blackwater) - because if they existed Bronn would not be getting the Reach, or to make the characters less interesting and complex etc ( ... )

Yeah, like, I have beef with some of the adapted things and particularly the things you mentioned, but I can see now how they may have decided to change /some/ of those things because they weren't sure how to frame them because of their plot conclusion lying in TWOW and ADOS (like Sansa and Jeyne Pool's arcs). A lot of the blame definitely lies with GRRM, who had every opportunity to be honest with himself and the people he collaborated with about how much writing can take out of him ( ... )

Martin said the ending will be more or less the same. I'm not interested in his story, either, since it's going to end with Mad Queen Dany and fucking BRAN on the throne.

not that he'll ever finish it anyway, but people are deluding themselves if they think GRRM's ending will be different. It'll just be fleshed out, which again, I don't care. Making a powerful woman ~teh_ev0l~ is not remotely interesting to me no matter how well it's done

grrm is just as dumb as d&d then tbh
if his ending is even remotely close to d&d's it's awful and in bad taste.

i've read fire and blood, and thats not how they are portrayed, its much more about how power/riches corrupt and what happens when a kingdom is inherited than eevil bloood. but yeah im also concern about originality

Some adaptations are either done or almost done, yes.

lol I can't take credit, my mom came up with that one and she doesn't even watch the show. but after it ended she was like, "wow so some Buttigieg boy showed up and stole the throne huh?"
