Martin Scorsese is leaning into his willfully ignant trait because his film legacy has been cemented. So why do better right? In a podcast called The Director's Cut, the Cinema Gatekepper talks with Spike Lee who also can't write women for shit. Scorsese recounts asking "The Irishman" writer Steve Zaillian if Paquin's character who plays DeNiro's daughter in the film "should be layered". Scorsese ultimately decided that Paquin's gesticulations would be enough and that she utters one line in the entire film. (How fucking fabulous!) Is that not girl code, why say anything when you can have a man do it for you?! Am I right ladies?!
