‘Black and Blue’ kicks off quiet weekend box office with $675,000 on Thursday night

During this quiet weekend in the box office, the cop thriller ‘Black and Blue’ started off with $675,000 on Thursday, and is expected to make around $8M-$9M range this weekend (on a $12 million budget).

The horror “Countdown” came in second for new releases, making $515,000 on Thursday in more than 2000 theaters, and is expected to make around $8M-$9M as well, and even make it to $11M, this weekend (on a $6.5 million budget). Regardless, either 'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil' or 'Joker' will top the box office this weekend.

Also out in limited release is '“The Current War: Director’s Cut' (finally), and the Springsteen doc 'Western Stars'.
