If you followed my ONTD exclusive Taylor Swift coverage earlier this year, you may remember a post that speculated that Swift wrote an original song for the upcoming Razzie-bait adaptation of the musical Cats. It was not released in July as Collider reported it would be, but now that all of Taylor's pop singles have flopped out of the Top 10 Swift ( and her publicist) are trying something new!

The song is called "Beautiful Ghosts" and according to Variety, and it will be sung by newcomer Francesca Hayward in the film. However, Swift will promptly steal Hayward's moment to sing the "studio" version of the song which will be played over the end credits. All of this will make Swift eligible for an Oscar, as noted in the article. It is unknown if this oppourtunity was part of her contract to join the film, or if it happened naturally like the promo video insists.

Other contenders for Best Original Song this year: songs from The Lion King from both Beyonce and Elton John, Love Me Again from Rocketman (also from Elton John), whatever song Randy Newman shat out for Toy Story 4, Kelly Clarkson's Broken & Beautiful from Ugly Dolls, Don't Call Me Angel by Miley/Ari/Lana from Charlie's Angels and last but not least... the entire soundtrack from Frozen 2.
