Can’t speak to SJP, but I have become a lot more conscious of consumerism as I matured. In my teens I bought things I wanted without much thought to longevity and sometimes impulsively. Now I am really so abhorrent of the mindless consumption that social media/influencer culture pushes.

I enjoy my clothing, but I really dislike shopping. It’s nice to have pieces you like, but to spend time looking through stores, trying stuff on, spending money is not at all fun.

I feel like with YouTube there’s such a nasty cycle too

Video 1-decluttering my closet
Video 2-filling my closet with this haul!
Video 3-more hauls!
Video 4-decluttering my closet

Rinse and repeat

It’s like they just do it because they need to product content but it’s so mindless and wasteful

The worst are the ones that engage in that cycle and also claim to be sustainable and ethical (looks at Emma hill)

She’s the worst for this. ‘Guys, I am so happy to be working with sustainable brand Everlane (proceeds to get a massive haul shipped from the US to London for no reason at all...)

She got invited to speak on a sustainability panel and I’m like....how? She regularly pushes fast fashion brands

mte. everytime i buy something that's not life or death, even if it's necessary, I feel guilty

i get almost all my clothes from thrift stores, that helps with the bad feeling
