The art is in the fact that someone thought it worthy for it to have a price attached to it.

The best con.

I don't think I could date a male artist. I'd get headaches from rolling my eyes so much.

I think the real appeal is the fact that people who work in art tend to come from family money, and they have their own thing going on so they won’t be threatened by their wife’s success (at least in theory.)

And didn’t Vito Schnabel used to date Demi Moore and Lilo?

This. Both partners move in creative circles but are separate enough that the men don’t feel overshadowed by their clearly more successful girlfriend/wife.

Speaking of Vito Schnabel I saw him strolling along in the village today. Meh.

And Danielle Fishel is married to Jensen Karp, a comedian who owns a pop culture art gallery.

As an actor, I do think there's something to dating/marrying someone outside of the business. You're not competing for the same sort of attention, and since success is measured differently in different fields, it's less harmful to the ego if one partner is doing better than the other.

i accidentally got into an event at Gallery 1988 with the cast and director of Hot Fuzz and Sean of the Dead and it was hysterical to watch them nerd out, still one of my favorite memories. I didnt know Hot Karl married her. Thats awesome.

tbh it's great dating someone out of your field. like you said, success is measured differently so you don't have to compare your careers in the same way even for us regular people. especially in the field i work in, there are so many different competing egos/everyone knows everyone/everyone has slept with everyone it's a whole.......mess..........

dating someone disconnected from that ecosystem and getting to come home and complain about it to someone who doesn't know the people you're bitching about feels great.
