'Zombieland: Double Tap' kicks off weekend box office with $2.85M on Thursday night

Surprisingly, the comedy 'Zombieland: Double Tap' outdid Maleficent and started off on top in this weekend's box office, making $2.85 Million on Thursday, and will bring in about $25-30 million this weekend (on a $42 million budget).

Right behind it is Disney's 'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil', which made $2.3 million on Thursday night previews, and is expected to bring in around $45-50 million this weekend (on a budget well over $100M).

In limited release are the acclaimed Oscar-baitish movies 'The Lighthouse' and 'Jojo Rabbit, and 'Jay and Silent Bob Reboot'.
