I honestly think she was so bold bc of the Fat Joe controversy lately. Fat Joe is also from the PR and claimed he could say it bc he grew up in NYC, he's Puerto Rican and some mess about Santaria showing that Latin ppl are more connected to African heritage than Black American descendants of slaves (which, like, Santaria only survived bc it was folded into Catholicism for so long and hidden, and the cultural transmission had a chance, meanwhile in the US area there were policies and practices that broke groups up.... I mean be fucking historical with this stuff.)

Gina is also from the PR, and I recon she was feeling her racism, and did the video. The lyrics she emphasized seemed subliminal, as in she was over black people and sending a coded nod and wink dog whistle. But it didn't swing the way it did for Fat Joe bc everyone's seen Gina take space away from black women and know she's racist.
