Susan Rice served as the 24th U.S. National Security Advisor from 2013 to 2017. Previously, Rice was on the staff of the National Security Council and was the Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs during President Bill Clinton's second term. A Brookings Institution fellow, she served as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations from 2009 to 2013. The U.S. Senate confirmed her as ambassador by unanimous consent.

Rice is promoting her new book Tough Love: My Story of the Things Worth Fighting For

Summary of conversation [Spoiler (click to open)]
Starts with Turkey military attack on Syria. Talks details. Most troops on the ground were gone (but their mere presence halted a Turkish advance). Rice explains the Kurd role as US allies. US was providing training, equipment, advice, air support, but is now forbidden to intervene. We left them to the wolves. So T45 threw them under the bus for his personal gain. ISIS prisoners will be released or escape, and now threaten us anywhere, including the US soil. It will embolden and refortify ISIS. T45 traded our national security for what /rhetorical. Congress can stop him, where there is also outrage. Moves to impeachment. What is more dangerous than allowing terrorists to come at us at their will.

Meghan bashes Obama. Rice responds. Rice points out the fight is against ISIS. Obama deployed forces to Syria against ISIS, which T45 has pulled out. Rice thought it was a mistake to ask Congress to use force in Syria (which Congress denied Obama). Feels she was right about the politics, but she was wrong about the policy, e.g. using diplomacy, to get chemical weapons. Force needs to be used to produce a tangible result, getting chemical weapons out of the conflict area. It occurred when Obama took action. It did not occur - twice - when Tr/mp took action. Meghan goes back to Aleppo, compares to WWII. Sunny asks clarification. Rice said if Congress had agreed to force, then Obama would’ve taken that action. Rice says Obama chose not to insert US in a local civil war [fighting another country’s internal civil war never ends well, see Vietnam], but he did choose to fight ISIS.

Joy recaps her frustration, lists latest news. Rice says GOP is standing up to defend our allies, the Kurds, but wants them to stand up and defend the Constitution. Rice says purpose of impeachment is to cleanse the office and bring back honor and dignity. Joy asks about Biden and Hunter. Rice says T45 takes his own weakness - corruption - and turning it into an attack on his opponents. Says Biden was the poorest Senator and no one accused him of corruption [his tax returns also reveal he’s not that wealthy, whereas T45 refuses and fights to release his tax returns]. Abby says Rice’s father used to be her boss. Brings up her son, who loves T45, was student leader of RNC at Stanford. Rice says he’s a traditional conservative and rejects some of the characterization about her son from the Post. Raised their kids to be independent thinkers. One is conservative and one is liberal, jokes that dinner table can be complicated.

Turkey has officially started attacking Syria, 2 days after TRE45ON birthday present to Putin and Turkey Tr/mp Tower grift to Erdogan. Kurds requested flyover support. The military is forbidden from engaging thanks to TRE45ON. Uproar continues.

WH refuses to cooperate with any House Impeachment investigation. Trey Gowdy, former House Rep (R-SC), has been retained as outside counsel for T45 impeachment. Plays clip. Everyone is laughing at the hypocrisy that Gowdy has history supporting the House position. Meghan thinks they should all testify publicly. Whoopi reminds that the basic fact is TRE45ON asked Ukraine to investigate Biden in return for military aid. You get a subpoena, you show up, or you go to jail. All the nuts and bolts aren’t important. Meghan thinks Gowdy is a win for WH and a lose for Dems because of course she does.

Whoopi starts with protests @ SCOTUS yesterday. At stake is federal discrimination laws, and whether it covers sexual orientation. Discrimination should be a blanket order. The law in 1964 said it was not ok to discriminate against people. Joy says 93% of Americans are for civil rights. You have gay marriage, but you can’t work? Most people (50%) think equal rights already protected sexual orientation but it never has. 21 states and 2 territories already have state level protections. Meghan mentions Senator Kyrsten Sinema, who is openly bisexual. 50th anniversary of Stonewall. Whoopi says it’s a slippery slope, either we protect people, or none of us are safe. Founding Fathers left England for the purpose of having (civil and) religious freedoms. If you’re in a service (industry) and you don’t want to serve xyz demographic, then choose a different job. Sunny says, Ruth Bader Ginsburg said when Civil Rights Act passed, no one thought they’d be talking about sexual harassment, but now here we are 20 years later. Thinks Title VII should cover all of that. Abby brings up bathroom nonsense, more whataboutism (but she is for Title VII covering sexual orientation so Idk). Opponents claim that there would be social upheaval, well that didn’t happen in the 21 states and 2 territories, so Nope.

Abby talks about going to a friend’s gay wedding, took us too long to get here, to see a person marry who they love. Whoopi ties back to 1960s Love-Ins. Then it was interracial couples. Joy says (people need to) get over it. Meghan mentions there was backlash when her brother married a woc. Abby says the same happened, when someone in her family adopted a child from China. Joy is myob = mind your own business. Sunny says ruling should come out this summer, probably near the party conventions. Meghan thinks it’s insane to fire someone for being gay. Sunny says a transgender funeral director was fired, like why, it’s crazy. Whoopi wonders how people even know that (someone's sexual orientation), do they ask? Repeats Joy motto myob.

Whoopi covers the details (post link above). Neverending story, more legs, just when you think it can’t get uglier. Abby said it was emotional and raw to watch the opening of The Today Show. Sunny gets explicit. R/pe is the most underreported crime, because victims don’t think they’ll be believed, and know they’ll be vilified. Gives more details (see link above). Why wasn’t she protected, why didn’t they (NBC leaders) report a crime, why are they still working there. Whoopi talks about false claim believed vs true claim not believed, have to get to the truth. Meghan hated him since Ann Curry, she hated how he treated her. MeToo is still going because women keep pushing forward with their abuse. Abby and Meghan talk about time at Fox re/Aisles. Joy wonders again how long did NBC know this. Meghan goes back to talking about her time at Fox.

Legal disclaimers: (paraphrased) NBC released statement that their actions were swift and appropriate, Matt Lauer released statement denying the allegation and that he had an extramarital affair that was consensual.
