I've heard two different explanations for Poe's disappearance, one is that she is an a Jojo-like situation with her label. The other is that she had surgery on her vocal chords. Both might be true, or neither, IDK.

From what I can recall a corporate merger and the legal fees to Try to get out of that contract with her masters and credits in tact basically trapped her and for years she had no access to her own work and couldn’t secure anyone who could buy out her old contract+masters+credit+everything else. She pops up at artsy stuff and her brothers events though

She's kinda back... ish? She has a few IG accounts and posts cryptic and weird things, some coded, all of which get deleted relatively quickly.
Some fans think it's meant as sort of a thin ARG to promote her actual return, some think she's... uh... not well. It's hard to tell. I hope it's the former.

Her brother, the author of “House Of Leaves”, is the narrator on that song.

Poe is the sister of the author of House of Leaves. Both "Haunted" and House of Leaves were created in response to their father's death. Both the album and the novel were being worked on around the same time, and they influenced each other. It's basically grief over the same event through two different artistic mediums.

Both Poe and her brother went through all of their father's stuff after he died, and one of the protagonists of House of Leaves goes through all the stuff of an old man who dies in his building, and has his mind consumed by it. Their father's stuff also had included various audio recordings, which Poe samples on the album. The Haunted album pulls various lyrical motifs from House of Leaves, and one of the House of Leaves characters is written as humming the "ba-da-ba-ba" intro vocal to Haunted within the book.

It's a shame (based on the comments) that she is stuck in legal limbo (?) b/c her music was amazing..
