there's like no room in los angeles for something like this - plus atlanta has always had amazing tax breaks for tv and film projects done there

There are soooo many empty buildings in the city, just rotting away. Tear those fuckers down if they're not gonna use them for homeless shelters.

He chose Atlanta because he's getting shit tons in public welfare for it lol.

"public welfare"? You mean the tax breaks and incentives these cities give to film studios?

city? no, the state of Georgia gives producers like him nearly a billion in the form of tax incentives for little return.

I'm not American so city/state/whatever. I'm aware of tax incentives as explained in my comment. What I take issue with is it being described as "public welfare" when talking about a black person. Cos you all won't call it that if this was involving a white director.

You're reaching here. This whole incentive program means less available funds for public services that actually help people and instead is given to rich producers who are pretty much all white except for Tyler perry. Subsidies for wealthy companies is usually called corporate welfare, welfare for the rich, etc. Because that's what it is.

Yet, it is a Tyler Perry you have decided to describe as receiving "public welfare" even though majority are white you single out one of the few black people to describe in such a manner. Let's see you take this up in on one the posts about numerous white run TV shows and movies that receive the same incentives.

The post was made about him with an emphases on his studio in Georgia, I would make no different comment with a white producer. I'm not targeting Tyler Perry. See the other comment I replied with.

"public welfare" is the wrong term though, I just could not think of corporate welfare off the top of my head when I wrote that comment. So I'm sorry if it came off the wrong way. I heavily support all social programs and services that improve our society.

Atlanta has become Hollywod-lite for so many studios.

Yeah personally I’d prefer LA just because GA’s politics is just... no but I get why he did it. You get tons of tax breaks there that you just don’t get in CA.

Has anyone said that a certain black filmmaker prefers Atlanta because it isn’t unionized?
