of course they gave in to the ugly racist fanboys. This had been pissing me off for the last week. Im tired of woc being sidelined for the sake of dorito smelling neckbeards

I'm not really a committed Star Wars fan so maybe I don't totally get it but her character was so inoffensive and nice that I've genuinely been shocked at how much she pisses some of the SW fandom off.

I think the problem is mostly that it was a rando character that got too much screen time when you could’ve had more time with Luke/Leia/Rey/Finn or anyone else who was actually interesting and is in a lead role. It was bad writing overall, so the valid criticism of that gets mixed up with the racist and misogynistic comments from some of the fanboys and creates an awful situation overall

That being said I did find her super annoying personally but I would never attack the actress of course, that has nothing to do with her

Agreed. The five minutes with her sister at the beginning was 1000x more compelling than Rose as a whole character.

Completely agree. Her character got really annoying and it pained me to really dislike a female character who got more screen time. But she really did not need it.

the situation was bad because a lot of men were super misogynist and racist against her and her character, which is completely unfair but at the same time Rose WAS an awful character and that storyline wasn’t worth all the screen time it got

I actually really liked her character, but her and Finn‘s casino planet adventure was terrible.

If that fucking casino side quest never existed and they introduced her character in a different way it would’ve been way better, almost half of the movie was wasted on that and it’s frustrating because its also the same movie where we got Luke and Leia for the last time. Awful, awful writing and time management in the storyline.

I actually liked their side plot as a concept but it was too long and weirdly paced.

yeah, I think her character and the views she presented--that there's a lot of corruption and money to be made from the First Order, etc. and how many people profit off it was really interesting, and I like her a lot, but it was long and in the end, kind of inconsequential for the movie? I really wish they did better by her because I think her character had so much potential

It’s funny because I went to get a soda refill right before that part and it took about half an hour because there was a bit of a line and the staff was being soooo slow

Turns out the only thing I missed was the casino scene that everyone hated lol

Same. I feel like that whole storyline was weak and took too much time to achieve far too little in terms of the characters.

I was more bothered with her electrocuting Finn for "deserting" and a lot of people thinking it was funny

Kelly is amazing and Rose has so much potential, it's a shame

IA, as much as I wanted to like Rose, her character was almost unnecessary in the movie and the side adventure in the casino was pointless, but it’s hard to point out these things when almost every form of criticism gets brushed together with the actual racism and misogyny that’s thrown Kelly’s way.
