According to her book, the husband and older daughter wanted the name Cricket. Busy stuck Pearl on there in case she didn't end up liking it in the long wrong.

i remember she made a post about their elf on the shelf and i misread the caption and thought the elves names were cricket and birdie and i thought it was so fucking cute! then i realized those were the kids names and was like OH.
