you're right, of course -- she might've wanted to slow down or something. i just instinctively found it suspicious how she suddenly went out of the spotlight when they started dating, primarily bc i've seen too many women's careers suffer bc of the men they dated :/

She didn't exactly have the kind of career where she was making two or three films a year anyway. She seems either very choosy or she just isn't getting the kinds of offers she wants.

I remember she was attached to Brady Corbet's Vox Lux and then suddenly she was out and Natalie was in. I think he wasn't able to get funding with Rooney attached and it came easy when Natalie was. So it just may be a matter of bankability, not personal relationships. Or she could be taking time off to have a private life, which is difficult if you're two actors who are both working on films all over the world. Her sister married Jamie Bell and had a kid, so maybe she's just giving her private life a priority.

I'm struggling to read the general reception for this movie, I feel like most people I talk to are aware it's coming out but not particularly invested, but then the media seems like it's highly anticipated and everyone is dying to see it and also that people are avoiding it for controversy and it's just...

I'll be interested to know how it does in the first week or what the projections are.

Yeah, same. From what I'm reading, it's poised to break box office records based on projections and make upwards of $90 million, but I don't know a single person irl who is planning to see it opening weekend.

I don't know anyone who is planning to see it period.

I went to the cinema with my friend to see Hustlers and it was a trailer beforehand and because I like Batman, she was like 'I assume you want to see that, I might go with you if you do but it doesn't really interest me'.

I feel like quite a few people are a bit meh on it. My friend at work who likes Batman too was telling me he's not interested because 'what is the Joker without Batman?'

Speaking for myself, I'll be seeing it tomorrow because of a compromise with my brother. He goes with me to movies he is not interested and I am (Spiderman: FFH or Captain marvel for example) and I go with him to movies that he wants to see and I don't (example: Suicide squad and this) 🤷‍♀️
